Chelsea’s summer business is not done yet after Mauricio Pochettino revealed bosses are hard at work to add to his squad before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Premier League sides have until 11pm on September 1 to finalise thier business.

Despite having already spent more than £360million this summer, Pochettino is seeking further reinforcements – although he was coy when quizzed on who he is after ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash with AFC Wimbledon.

“I know the club is working hard to finish our business,’ he said.

‘Can something happen? Maybe yes. At the moment I am only working and letting the club deliver what we want.’

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has not been scared to flex his wealth since succeeding previous owner Roman Abramovich.

Alongside Clearlake Capital, the big-spending American has overseen a spend that is closing in on £1bn.

Having already spent £600m prior to this summer window Boehly has since signed off moves for Moises Caicedo (Brighton, £115m), Romeo Lavia (Southampton, £58m), Christopher Nkunku (RB Leipzig, £53m), Axel Disasi (Monaco, £40m), Nicolas Jackson (Villarreal, £32m), Robert Sanchez (Brighton, £25m), Lesley Ugochukwu (Rennes, £23.5m), Angelo Gabriel (Santos, £13m), Ishe Samuels-Smith (Everton, £4m) and Kendry Paez (Independiente del Valle, undisclosed), although the latter will join in 2025.

There have also been free transfers for Diego Moreira (Benfica) and Alex Matos (Norwich).

He added: ‘The club is doing a fantastic job. That was the plan before we arrived because when they showed the plan, it was a plan to do a lot of business.

‘That’s why the cub is working so hard to deliver. It’s never easy to do in one/two months.’
