Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag to make seven changes vs Fulham as Dutchman feels heat

Manchester United take on Fulham in the Premier League today and Erik ten Hag looks set to make seven changes from the midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle. Ten Hag appeared to be feeling the pressure at his pre-match press conference on Friday. Express Sport looks at how we predict the Red Devils to line up at Craven Cottage.

Goalkeeper – Onana

Andre Onana has often been the fall guy this season since his arrival from Inter Milan. But Ten Hag has remained determined to back the Cameroon star, starting him in every match.

Summer signing Altay Bayindir is yet to play a single minute for United. That doesn’t look likely to change anytime soon if Onana stays fit.

Defence – Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Varane, Reguilon

Ten Hag is set for a couple of fitness boosts in defence. He confirmed on Friday that Raphael Varane has overcome the illness that saw him miss the defeat to Newcastle.

The Frenchman was surprisingly left out of the starting XI for the Manchester derby but will surely return for this one. He will likely partner Harry Maguire in the middle of defence.

Victor Lindelof has been used at left-back in recent weeks but illness could rule him out, with Sergio Reguilon in line to keep his place. Aaron Wan-Bissaka also played the second half on Wednesday and may start at right-back after missing a month-and-a-half through injury.

Midfield – McTominay, Amrabat; Fernandes

While there is some good news in defence, United are now set to be without Casemiro for several weeks. The Brazilian has a hamstring injury which he suffered during the first half of the Newcastle loss.

Sofyan Amrabat is likely to come back into the side in his place. Scott McTominay will also return to the starting XI and could partner him in a midfield two.

Bruno Fernandes needs to play centrally and a return to his usual No 10 spot could happen today. Mason Mount didn’t do enough on Wednesday to keep his place.

Attack – Antony, Hojlund, Rashford

Antony played the whole game against the Magpies and, with Fernandes central, he could keep his place on the right. The Brazilian is yet to score or assist in any competition this season.

Marcus Rashford is on a barren run of his own, failing to score in his last 10 club appearances. Ten Hag must persist with him for now, with Alejandro Garnacho the only other recognised option.

Rasmus Hojlund is still waiting for his first Premier League goal. The Dane has shown promising signs, though, and will be hoping to get off the mark today.
