Louis van Gaal opens up on cancer op and hopes for ‘miracle’ he can use toilet

Ex-Manchester United and Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is still waiting to find out if his cancer operation has been successful.

Van Gaal had been fighting an aggressive form of prostate cancer for nearly three years, although he did opt to keep it a secret due to not wanting to overshadow the Netherlands bid to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last year.

However, the Dutchman has now revealed he has had another medical procedure, and is hoping doctors will provide him with some much needed good news next month when he returns to hospital for a check-up.

So aggressive has the cancer been, van Gaal has needed assistance to go to the toilet, with the 72-year-old revealing it would be a "miracle" if he can "go to the toilet by myself again".
