KFC mock Man Utd with Erik ten Hag ‘cooking’ pic as fans label new burger ‘s***’

If you'd told a Manchester United fan KFC's (yes, Kentucky Fried Chicken) social media team would be mocking them come December at the start of the 2023/24 season, they might not have believed you.

And yet, with 2023 nearly over, the fast food chain have taken to social media to do just that. On Tuesday night, United were dumped out of the Champions League – and Europe all together – after they were defeated 1-0 by Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.

United's disastrous campaign saw them finish bottom of their group behind Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Bayern, with their only win in Europe's elite club competition coming against the former in a 1-0 home win which they could have drawn had it not been for Andre Onana's injury time penalty save.

After a campaign which saw United win the Carabao Cup and finish third in the Premier League last term, Old Trafford has been rife with controversy this season, with manager Erik ten Hag having to try and put out fires both on and off the pitch.

And with a trip to Liverpool looming, where United will be without skipper Bruno Fernandes and potentially Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, things might be set to get even worse for Ten Hag. But back in September, when there was still some positive energy surrounding United's season, one fan took to social media following their 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace to write: "Ten Hag is cooking something."

Will Erik ten Hag still be in charge at Old Trafford come the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season? Let us know in the comments section below.

However, that has since come back to bite the United fan in question after KFC quote tweeted a reply to that post recently with a picture of an 'SFC Take Home Boneless Bucket', which is available in the frozen section of most supermarkets.

They wrote: "The cooking" attaching the photo below their caption. And it's safe to say United fans didn't take too kindly to the chicken jibe on social media, even resorting to attacking KFC's Christmas stuffing stacker burger.

One fan wrote: "tried that new christmas burger, it’s s***." A second added: "Oi, put some respect on SFC. That bucket banged." A third said: "KFC are on the verge of getting blocked at this rate."

A fourth said: "Honestly all these fast food companies bantering football clubs now for easy clicks is mad. Hope McDonald’s wins the league this year anyway you greasy t***s."

And KFC's social media jibe at United isn't the only torment supporters have had to suffer recently either. Following their Champions League exit, Domino's also tweeted: "just tried to deliver to Man Utd but they’ve gone out."
