FPL injury update on Watkins, Bowen, Mitoma and Eze for GW14

Premier League action is back today and Fantasy Premier League managers have slightly longer before deciding on their final picks. There is no early kick-off, which means the deadline is not until 1.30pm this afternoon, with the first matches beginning at 3pm. Express Sport provides updates on the biggest injury doubts and concerns ahead of what promises to be an exciting Gameweek 14.

Ollie Watkins has been one of the players of the season so far. The Aston Villa striker has seven goals to his name but is a big doubt for his side’s game at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Unai Emery has not ruled him out but says it is a 50-50 chance he will make it after sustaining an injury in training which saw him miss the Europa Conference League tie against Legia Warsaw. Emery said: “He is not completely unavailable for Sunday, we are going to wait until tomorrow and it depends if we can take a risk with him.

“We are going to think about only the match on Sunday. At the moment it is 50-50 for Sunday.”

Jarrod Bowen is still owned by almost 22 per cent of FPL managers despite him missing West Ham’s match at Burnley last weekend. He also sat out of the Europa League win over Backa Topola on Thursday.

David Moyes was unable to give much of an update on the winger, who remains a doubt. Moyes said: “Because we’re only just back from Serbia we’ll find out a bit later.

“Jarrod, of course, had an injury. I’ll pick up with the medical team and we’ll see later this afternoon.”

Brighton were without Kaoru Mitoma for their victory at Nottingham Forest last weekend. However, he should be available to face Chelsea on Sunday.

The Japan star started the 1-0 win over AEK Athens on Thursday. He played 69 minutes before being replaced by Mahmoud Dahoud.

It is not good news for owners of Eberechi Eze though. Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the England international has sustained ankle ligament damage.

Hodgson hopes the 25-year-old won’t need an operation on the issue. He said: “We should know more after he’s seen the surgeon again today.

“He saw the surgeon at the start of the week and had his ankle put in a boot because it’s a ligament problem. He’s going to see him again today.

“It’s a high ankle ligament which apparently is not quite as serious as it could be when you get a bad ligament injury lower down, but it’s still a considerable injury.”

Meanwhile, Everton could be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin against Forest this evening. The striker will continue to be assessed after suffering from muscle tightness.

Beto could return from an injury of his own and may take Calvert-Lewin’s place if he is not available. Wolves star Pedro Neto is back on the grass but won’t recover from his hamstring injury in time to play Arsenal.
