Everton have completed the £25m signing of Beto from Udinese, with the forward signing a four-year deal at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche’s side sit at the foot of the Premier League table ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline and are the only team in the division yet to score a goal so far.

The Toffees, who have already suffered three defeats against Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves.

Mail Sport understands Everton have paid £21.4m plus £4.2m in potential add-ons for the Portuguese forward, with no payment due until the next financial year.

The 25-year-old striker netted 10 times in 33 Serie A appearances for Udinese last season, helping the Italian outfit to a 12th place finish.

‘It feels good to join Everton. I have always appreciated them as a club,’ Beto told Everton’s club website.

‘Everton is a big, big club in the Premier League, well respected and has big history. It was easy to make this move

‘When a club like Everton tries to buy you in January and then comes again in the summer, you feel like, ‘Okay, they want me for real’, so that made the decision easy for me as well. My idol, Samuel Eto’o, played here, too, which makes it even more special.

‘I can bring courage, I can bring confidence and I think my biggest thing is effort. I will always bring enthusiasm to the team and to our games. I feel like my style is a really good fit with Everton.

‘I am looking forward to getting started – today, right now. I know the team needs to score more goals and I will try to help with this. I love to score goals. I know we need this and I am here to help. I will always give my best to score goals.’

Beto added that speaking to former Everton forward Gerard Deulofeu, who was a team-mate at Udinese, had contributed to his decision to sign for the Toffees.

Everton have struggled with the continual absences of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who missed large chunks last year because of knee and hamstring problems.

Despite starting the new campaign, the Toffees striker suffered a cheekbone fracture against Aston Villa and is set for another spell on the sidelines.

Converting chances has been the primary issue for Dyche’s side this season, with Everton failing to score despite 15 shots and seven attempts on target in the 1-0 defeat by Wolves last weekend.

‘We have been eager to strengthen our striking options to add more attacking quality to our squad and the arrival of Beto gives us that,’ Dyche said.

‘He has impressed in a top league like Serie A for the past two seasons and scored goals.

‘As a powerful striker who can carry the ball, hold up play, is strong in the air and works hard for the team, he has a lot of attributes that we hope can see him prove to be a success with Everton.
