England told to ‘rip into’ rivals or suffer ‘regrets for the rest of your life’

Kevin Sinfield has ordered England to 'rip into' South Africa and seize their chance to stun the reigning Rugby World Cup holders.

England are huge underdogs ahead of Saturday's crunch semi-final showdown with the Springboks in Paris. The clash in the Stade de France is a repeat of the 2019 final in Japan, when the Boks ran out comfortable 32-12 winners.

Jacques Nienabar's formidable side returned to being the no.1 ranked team in the world after dumping out host nation France in the last eight.

But Sinfield insists the Boks do not intimidate him and England – and has told his men to meet the challenge head on and leave no regrets out on the pitch.

The England coach said: "We want them to absolutely rip into it on Saturday night and give it everything they've got.

"Otherwise you end up with a load of regrets for the rest of your life.

“I am certainly not overwhelmed. I understand the challenge in front of us.

"I don’t mind being backed into a corner, don’t mind being written off, don’t mind being slammed, don’t mind being in the thick of a pretty tough circumstance.

"I just think we’re in a World Cup semi-final, there is a lot of good in it here, there’s a lot of things to be excited about."

England's rugby team will be aiming for glory in France, with Umbro supplying their kits for the tournament. It is the first time that the supplier have been handed the chance to produce the kits, with a traditional white home shirt emblazoned with the iconic red rose.

Sinfield knows the Boks represent the acid test in rugby – but reckons it will bring out the best in England.

He added: "Coming up against them will let us know where we’re at. But for our players, they are so excited to be out here.

"We are really looking forward to this. Some will absolutely thrive on the fact that we are coming up against the best team in the world at the weekend."
