Floyd Mayweather wins £32,000 bet after dropping ‘light’ £16k on wager

Floyd Mayweather managed to turn a “light” £16,000 wager into £32,000.

The boxing legend has always been in love with money, so it is no surprise that he enjoys nothing more than having a little flutter on the sports teams he follows. In February, he lost £8,500 after backing the Philadelphia Eagles to overcome the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

While his gambling habits are not quite as over the top as that of music colossus Drake, Mayweather is not afraid of dropping a big financial load on a team or sports person he admires. Fortunately for him, the 46-year-old managed to recover the funds he lost in the Super Bowl.

Mayweather uploaded a screengrab of his bet on the Boston Celtics' NBA clash against the Brooklyn Nets. He staked $20,000 (£16,000) on the Celtics to overcome the Nets.

Luckily for him, Jaylen Brown was at his very best, as he contributed 28 points for the Celtics, who ran out 121-107 winners. This performance saw Mayweather come close to doubling his stake, as he won $39,000 (£32,000).

One of his most famous wagers saw him lump $10,000 (£8000) on Dmitrii Bivol to overcome Mayweather's former rival Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. After Bivol was handed the victory in Las Vegas, the American uploaded a picture of his betting slip which showed he had raked in $52,500 (£43,000) from his wager.

Considering his previous victories, you can expect to see plenty more bets to be uploaded to his social media pages.
