Joe Rogan tells UFC star ‘hopefully you get bonus’ so she can ‘pay off divorce’

Joe Rogan joked about Jessica Andrade getting a bonus to "help pay off divorce bills" after her UFC 295 win.

The Brazilian, 32, became the first person to finish Mackenzie Dern, 30, at Madison Square Garden last night (November 11). After several knock downs she secured a TKO victory in the second round.

She was interviewed by Rogan in the Octagon post-fight, which ended with him saying: "Well hopefully you'll get a bonus tonight to help pay off some of those divorce bills."

Some fans were caught off guard by Rogan, with one responding: "Interesting comment to say the least." Another wrote: "@joerogan You're a savage man." And a third asked: "Wtf Joe Rogan where was the need for the divorce line?"

But the veteran announcer was only calling back to Andrade's comments heading into the bout, when she'd explained the reason behind fighting five times in 2023 was because of her split from ex-wife Fernanda Gomes.

“This year I had my divorce that has taken a lot of my money in paying for lawyers and things here and there, so I ended up taking five fights,” Andrade said on MMA Fighting’s Trocaçao Franca podcast.

“It will be over this year, God willing, and I’ll be fine. [I fought five times in 2023] because of that, because of the divorce. I had to spend a lot of money with lawyers in Brazil, it’s too much bureaucracy.”

Coincidentally, Dern has also recently divorced – with Andrade joking they'll compare notes as she continued: "She's going through that, I'm going through it as well.

"We're going to go in there and let our demons out. I actually have gone through what she's gone through even longer because my divorce started earlier than hers. When the fight is over, we're going to exchange information about how our divorces are going."

Andrade, now 25-12 in her career, was on a streak of three straight losses heading into the clash with Dern (13-4). She credited her preparation for pulling off an upset victory.

“This was a strategy,” she said. “Only God knows what I went through this year with my divorce. I was hungry this year. The strategy actually worked tonight. I know how tough she is on the ground. I knew she was going to stay alive. I was really poised, I was calm and the strategy worked.”
