Everton manager Sean Dyche has been told by prospective new owners 777 Partners that it’ll take them time to complete the takeover from Farhad Moshiri due to Premier League regulations.

Dyche held his first meeting with 777 chief Josh Wander and his associates this week to discuss the way forward for one of England’s most revered clubs.

Everton, who have been in the top flight since the 1950s, are currently in the bottom three without a league win this season and Moshiri has signed an agreement to sell his stake to the American investors.

Dyche outlined his informal get-together with Wander.

‘It was very casual at this stage. They made it clear at the meeting the deal has a long way to go to finality,’ he said.

‘They were very honest, promoting the thought that it’s not done, it will take time with the ‘fit and proper’ tests.

‘There was nothing heavy, just a chat over a cup of coffee. Their intent is to be here but the regulatory stuff, there is a way to on that side of things.

‘It’s not my concern, I can’t affect it. They have put the wheels in motion. All the parties are intent on getting things done. I am sure the regulatory things do take time.

‘It is about what I have learned in my time, the challenges ahead. At this early stage they were very honest. Promoting the thought it is not done, it will take time with the fit and proper tests.’

All potential Premier League owners have to gain regulatory approval and pass the governing bodies’ fit and proper persons test.

777 Partners own several sports teams and faced recent demonstrations from one of their clubs, Hertha Berlin in Germany, amidst accusations they prioritise profit over identity and tradition.

Dyche said the U.S. firm were interested in where he felt Everton were at.

‘It was more absorbing the feel of the club than directives. It was a broad brush thing. How to bring together the market, the finances, all the things we’re aware of. They do their homework about the challenges they face,’ he revealed.

‘It was more my thoughts about what the challenges are. How I worked to finish still in the Premier League last season and what we are trying to build from now on.

‘I think the fans will be looking at which way it will swing. Will they get the deal done?’

Everton travel to Brentford on Saturday with two key home games against fellow strugglers Luton and Bournemouth to come in a defining period.

Dyche confirmed having Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil back, with Jack Harrison also returning to training with a possible chance to be on the bench on this weekend, is positive.

‘It is bound to help in terms of squad depth,’ he said.

‘With all respect to the young players who have been involved, they are learning and these players are in advance of that. It gives you a stronger hand to play.

‘The underlying story for us in performances is better than the league table.

Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back in action for Everton in a major boost for Dyche

‘We need to keep your habits right in working and pressing but also be brave on the ball.’

One option for Dyche to combat Everton’s scoring problems would be to partner Calvert-Lewin and new signing Beto up front.

‘I have always liked two strikers when possible but it has to suit the rest of the team,’ added the manager.

‘It is early days for that combination to have cohesion. Sometimes they snap in like hand in glove, often it needs time.’

Dyche will meet the 777 Partners leaders again.

‘They said they are going to come and see us again but it’s not like phoning people every day,’ explained the Everton boss.

‘They just said they would be coming back up. we’ll keep in touch with what we need to know and share, but not like ringing every day.’
