Becker recently hit back at the Wimbledon runner-up when Kyrgios claimed that former players were no match for today\u2019s pros. The 28-year-old responded by stating that he had brought more fans to the sport and built his own brand but Express Sport readers disagreed and sided heavily with Becker.<\/p>\n<p>Kyrgios and Becker have been beefing on X (formerly known as Twitter) in recent days after the 56-year-old took issue with some of the former world No 13\u2019s comments. \u201cThe game was so slow back then. I&#8217;ve watched Boris Becker and I&#8217;m not saying they weren&#8217;t good in their time, but to say that they would be just as good now, it&#8217;s absurd,\u201d Kyrgios told The Athletic earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>What followed was a series of back-and-forth tweets, with Becker retaliating and saying that the Australian was \u201cmaking a lot of noise\u201d for someone who hadn\u2019t won a Grand Slam singles title. Kyrgios responded by claiming he \u201cbrought millions more fans to the sport and has made more money for everyone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Although the seven-time title winner argued that he had been able to build a name for himself, appearing on Netflix\u2019s Break Point documentary, Express Sport readers overwhelmingly sided with Becker in the fiery feud. Following the 28-year-old\u2019s initial comments about former pros, Becker claimed that Kyrgios wouldn\u2019t be able to make a living from tennis were it not for his predecessors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe live in a democracy. Everyone can think what he wants. You have to have respect for the past and simply say &#8216;thank you&#8217; out loud that these old pros existed, because without them the tennis circus would no longer exist,\u201d the current coach of Holger Rune said on Eurosport\u2019s Das Gelbe vom Ball podcast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did play a bit in the 80s, but there was [Stefan] Edberg, [Mats] Wilander. What kind of w*** is he smoking??\u201d But Kyrgios clarified that he wasn\u2019t trying to take Becker\u2019s Grand Slam success away.<\/p>\n<p>In a direct reply to the Russian, he said: \u201cNever ever said that he hasn\u2019t impacted the game champion. We have another potato on board. He said that if you haven\u2019t won a slam there is no credibility???? RUBLEV??? lol you old heads are all the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Kyrgios put the argument to bed when he posted: \u201cNot once have I taken \u2018slams\u2019 away from Becker, or any of these legends.
