He may no longer be part of the Premier League, but that won't stop Jose Mourinho's trademark meddling.

A three-time winner in England's top flight, the Portuguese tactician knows better than most what's require to lift the title. And whatever that may be, it's apparent he doesn't feel the Gunners have enough to see things over the line this season.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager went toe-to-toe with Arsene Wenger throughout most of his days as a Premier League mastermind. And despite the Gunners currently setting the pace at the table's peak, Mourinho has obvious doubts around Mikel Arteta and his ability to finish the job.

"Man City 51 [per cent]," started 'The Special One' when asked for his take during a recent appearance on Mikel John Obi's 'The Obi One Podcast'. "And Liverpool 49 [per cent]."

Quizzed about Arsenal's absence from the consideration despite currently being top, Roma chief Mourinho replied with a disapproving look and a simple: "Nah." It's evident Arteta hasn't done enough to convince his former coaching rival just yet.

Obi was sent into a fit of laughter by the response from a man whom he still refers to as "boss." The 36-year-old – who retired in 2022 – won a Premier League title under Mourinho in 2015 when Wenger's old side settled for third.

Arsenal sit a single point clear at the Premier League summit after beating Brighton 2-0 on Sunday. Both Man City and Liverpool dropped points at home in the same weekend, with Pep Guardiola's side slipping at against Crystal Palace while the Reds were held 0-0 by Man United.

The current Arsenal squad gained valuable experience last season when City pipped them to the title after running eight points clear just weeks out from the campaign's conclusion. Arteta & Co will be adamant to avoid a similar collapse if they happen to build a similar lead in search of the club's first league crown since 2004.

However, it appears Mourinho won't have his mind changed regarding his former London rivals' title prospects. And it doesn't appear as though any kind of cushion will alter that stance anytime soon – although to be fair, he failed to mention high-flying Aston Villa either!
