However, the Egypt winger does not appear to be the most selfish player in the Reds\u2019 ranks anymore, with Cody Gakpo taking that crown.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool have enjoyed a strong start to the season but wasted the opportunity to reclaim their spot at the top of the Premier League on Sunday when they were held to a 0-0 draw by Manchester United.<\/p>\n<p>Jurgen Klopp\u2019s side truly underwhelmed at Anfield, failing to craft any clear-cut opportunities and wasting possession in dangerous areas. Liverpool were particularly poor when they made space on the edge of the United area, firing numerous harmless strikes at Andre Onana rather than trying to work a more dangerous chance.<\/p>\n<p>Gakpo was among those to throw possession away, with the Netherlands international having two poor strikes that both missed the target when there were better options to his left and right.<\/p>\n<p> <strong> Don&#8217;t miss&#8230; <\/strong> <strong>Man Utd ace Andre Onana targeted by annoyed Virgil van Dijk in tunnel after draw[LATEST] <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/67\/590x\/secondary\/Cody-Gakpo-5120287.jpg?r=1702853303259\"><\/p>\n<p>On one occasion, ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher sounded visibly frustrated by Gakpo\u2019s decision-making, having criticised Salah earlier in the match after he tried to cut the ball onto his left foot to shoot rather than crossing the ball into a dangerous area.<\/p>\n<p>After Gakpo\u2019s shot, Carragher exclaimed: \u201cNo! Gakpo, that is so poor. I\u2019ve said this about Mo Salah, he\u2019s been locked out on the edge of the box so far and he\u2019s still thinking about shooting even though it\u2019s clearly not on. (Curtis) Jones isn\u2019t happy, his Liverpool teammates need to tell him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool will need to improve if they are to reinforce themselves as title challengers, having won matches over the past few weeks with late goals \u2013 which several pundits have pointed at as an unsustainable push to dethrone Manchester City.
