The Red Devils are actually among the top scorers in the competition after netting 12 goals but their porous defence, compounded by a series of critical errors, was their undoing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the first matchweek, United lost 4-3 at Bayern Munich\u00a0in a chaotic game which is best remembered for an Andre Onana howler and a lesser-spotted Casemiro double.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fair enough, you say – no shame in losing to the 11-time consecutive Bundesliga champions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But the next match brought a shocking 3-2 defeat at home to Galatasaray, as Onana made another blunder, Casemiro was sent off, and the hosts let a lead slip, with Mauro Icardi scoring a late winner.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the next match, United kept their European flame lit with a dogged 1-0 win over Copenhagen, with Harry Maguire on the scoresheet and Onana making a heroic last-gasp penalty save.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That, however, was to be their only clean sheet.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Matchweek four saw a calamitous loss on the road as Copenhagen hit back with a 4-3 vengeance, with Marcus Rashford given his marching order.\u00a0<\/p>\n
