United went down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich as Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the night 20 minutes before the end.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made mistakes,\u201d Ten Hag told TNT Sports after the final whistle. \u201cSome individuals errors from more players. In the end, it\u2019s not good enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Dutchman then declared that his team had performed well against the German opponents, despite the fact they had just one shot on target all night. \u201cToday the performance was very good and we didn\u2019t deserve to lose but we lost the game,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team did very good, we were very good in defensive organisation, we were very good in pressing. We played against a strong side. Bayern is a good team. We want to be more consistent. You saw the spirit. I have to credit them a big compliment for how they worked together as a team against this good Bayern side. The options were limited [from the bench]. The target was over the winter [to reach the knockout stages] but we didn\u2019t make it. We have to accept it, we have to learn from it. We have to take some good performance into the Premier League if we want to be back in the Champions League [next season].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The damage for United had been done long before the visit of Bayern, with the Red Devils picking up just four points from their opening five matches. And the Red Devils were ultimately unable to find the back of the net at the other end.<\/p>\n<p>United would have exited the Champions League whatever the result against Thomas Tuchel\u2019s side as Copenhagen defeated Galatasaray 1-0 to finish second in the group.
