Getafe find themselves in a win-win situation with Mason Greenwood, with the LaLiga side reportedly holding a 20 per cent sell on clause should the Manchester United striker go elsewhere at the end of the season.

Greenwood made the season-long move to the Madrid-based side on loan in September and has proven to be a hit, with four goals and three assists through 13 matches.

There appears to no future for Greenwood at Manchester United, and the Athletic claim that while Getafe are ‘weighing up’ making a permanent move for him, they are set to be in the money either way thanks to a previously unknown clause.

They claim that in a bid to sweeten the loan deal and to convince Getafe to make the move for the 22-year-old, the Spanish side have a 20 per cent sell on, and they will only have to pay 80 per cent if they do make his loan permanent.

The Spaniards didn’t pay a loan fee to land Greenwood and now they are said to be exploring a permanent deal.

Asked about that potential deal, Getafe president Angel Corres told reporters, as per the Athletic: ‘We have not talked about price.
