Thomas Tuchel has warned Manchester United that Bayern Munich won’t take their foot off the pedal in their Champions League group clash at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

While Bayern are already through as Group A leaders, United must beat the Germans to have any chance of advancing to the knockout stage. Even then they have to rely on the other game between FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray ending in a draw.

Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk accused Bayern of letting up in their last game against Copenhagen, but Tuchel vowed that would not be the case against United.

‘I understand that some people thought that against Copenhagen it looked like we weren’t throwing everything into it,’ said Tuchel who confirmed that Harry Kane will start the match as Bayern attempt to extend their 39-game unbeaten run in the group stages.

‘But when you sign for Bayern or United, you sign up to give 100 percent every day. When you wear the Bayern jersey, you behave like champions, there’s no other way.

‘It’s part of their DNA that they can come through difficult moments. This stadium creates special moments. It will be a big challenge for us.’

Asked if he would understand if United fans wished Kane had signed for their club instead after scoring 22 goals for Bayern this season, Tuchel added: ‘We’re very proud we were able to sign Harry.

‘He’s a great character and a great role model, a terrific player.
