Football fans have signed a petition to stop Boris "Bozo" Johnson wearing one of their club\u2019s bobble hats. <\/p>\n

The ex-PM was spotted in the black and white Grimsby Town FC headgear as he left the Covid inquiry after giving evidence. But fed-up supporters insist the benched PM is not fit to wear the team\u2019s titfer and is 'bringing Grimsby into serious disrepute\u2019.<\/p>\n

Nearly 500 signed an online petition demanding he leaves their hat off. Organiser John Dale raged Bozo has no formal connection to the club and accused him of using Grimsby \u201cto add lustre and glamour to his own shattered life\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cHe is also bringing Grimsby into serious disrepute.This petition asks that Johnson stops wearing the hat and adopts [a] hat more suited to his lowly status eg MUFC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kathryn Wheatley, labour leader of North East Lincolnshire council, backed the call. She said: "To be associated with that bumbling liar is not something we would want for our community, our town or our club."<\/p>\n

Bozo has been pictured in a range of GTFC hats – mainly on early morning runs with his dog Dilyn. But he has admitted he does not wear them because he is a fan of the League Two club. He said: \u201cIt\u2019s what I grab when I run out the house.<\/p>\n

\u201dThere\u2019s no particular science to it. It\u2019s a very good hat. It\u2019s lovely and warm.\u201d<\/p>\n
