Listen to It&#8217;s All Kicking Off<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tottenham captain Son Heung-min will be assessed today after suffering a back injury in his side&#8217;s 2-1 defeat against West Ham on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Son took a blow to the back late on and hobbled off in the closing stages, with footage showing him writhing in agony on the bench as he received treatment from the club&#8217;s medics.<\/p>\n<p>Spurs face a quick turnaround as they prepare to host Newcastle on Sunday, and manager Ange Postecoglou is uncertain over whether Son will be available to lead the team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Nothing new really. The last update I got late last night was that he was a bit sore last night after the game. We&#8217;ll have to see today,&#8217; Postecoglou said.<\/p>\n<p>Spurs already have a lengthy injury list with James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Rodrigo Bentancur all ruled out until 2024.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/12\/78735653-12841569-image-a-20_1702039590809.jpg\" height=\"386\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Tottenham captain Son Heung-min went down with a back injury late on against West Ham<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/12\/78735657-12841569-image-m-23_1702039630749.jpg\" height=\"346\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He had to hobble off in the closing stages with Ange Postecoglou revealing he was feeling &#8216;a bit sore&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/12\/78735675-12841569-image-m-25_1702039674951.jpg\" height=\"346\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Postecoglou revealed Son will be assessed today ahead of Sunday&#8217;s clash with Newcastle<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Richarlison and Pape Matar Sarr both came off the bench against West Ham, though, after recent injury setbacks.<\/p>\n<p>Postecoglou revealed they came through the game well and should be fit to face the Magpies, as he declared there are no &#8216;significant&#8217; fitness concerns other than Son.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Pape and Richy both reported OK after the game but we won&#8217;t be getting anyone else back I don&#8217;t think before the new year,&#8217; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There&#8217;s nothing, apart from Sonny, that looks too significant.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Son accused Tottenham of being &#8216;soft&#8217; after they failed to hold onto a lead for the fifth successive game against West Ham.<\/p>\n<p>They dominated the first half and went in front through Cristian Romero, but failed to build on that as Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse turned the game in West Ham&#8217;s favour.<\/p>\n<p>Postecoglou admitted his side have plenty of improvements to make from an attacking perspective if they are going to challenge at the top end of the table.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I still think our front third, we&#8217;ve got a lot of work to do.
