LIV Golf botched their announcement of Jon Rahm joining the Saudi rebel circuit by spelling his name incorrectly in a word search posted on social media to confirm his move from the PGA Tour.

A post on Thursday night by LIV’s social media account showed a word search for fans to find the name of three new arrivals to the tour.

Across the fourth and fifth row down was the name ‘John Rahm’ – but the Spaniard spells his name ‘Jon’.

It’s an awkward start for Rahm, the Masters champion, whose move is undoubtedly a crippling blow for the PGA Tour.

The Spaniard had long distanced himself from joining LIV but if anything, his words in times gone by appear to have pumped up his price tag.

Jon Rahm was confirmed as a LIV Golf player on Thursday – moving for $570million

Rahm’s name was spelt incorrectly on a word search posted by LIV to first announce his move

Rahm spoke to FOX about the move and insisted he wasn’t joining for the $570million

He joins LIV in a deal that could rise to an astonishing total of $570million.

‘I laugh when people rumor me with LIV Golf. I never liked the format. My heart is with the PGA Tour,’ Rahm said just three months ago.

But on Thursday, he said on X: ‘I am proud to join LIV Golf and be part of something new that is bringing growth to the sport.

‘I have no doubt that this is a great opportunity for me and my family and am very excited for the future.’

Rahm also appeared on Fox News, wearing a LIV jacket, to confirm his move but would not openly say how much he is being paid to switch tours.

‘It’s not an easy decision,’ Rahm said. ‘There were a lot of things LIV had to offer that was really enticing.’

The Spaniard’s deal to head to LIV is believed to earn him around $570million.

‘I can’t comment on any of that, nor do I want to,’ Rahm said. ‘It is private and it is going to stay private. Listen, it was a great offer. The money is great, it is wonderful.’

Rahm insisted the motive behind the move was to grow the game, adding: ‘I’m an ambitious person, not a greedy one.’

Asked about the PGA Tour, Rahm said: ‘This wasn’t anything personal for them, it was for my family. I hope the friends that I made stay my friends.’
