{"id":301254,"date":"2023-12-03T09:09:25","date_gmt":"2023-12-03T09:09:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=301254"},"modified":"2023-12-03T09:09:25","modified_gmt":"2023-12-03T09:09:25","slug":"chris-sutton-calls-englands-euro-2024-group-pretty-soft-after-draw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/chris-sutton-calls-englands-euro-2024-group-pretty-soft-after-draw\/","title":{"rendered":"Chris Sutton calls England&apos;s Euro 2024 group &apos;pretty soft&apos; after draw"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1> Chris Sutton calls England&#8217;s Euro 2024 group &#8216;pretty soft&#8217; after avoiding Netherlands and Italy and claims Denmark &#8216;aren&#8217;t as strong as they were&#8217;&#8230; while Alan Shearer says Gareth Southgate will be &#8216;extremely happy&#8217;<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Chris Sutton believes England&#8217;s Euro 2024 group is &#8216;pretty soft&#8217; after the draw<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Three Lions drew a favourable trio in Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Raphael Varane row is undermining United boss Erik ten Hag &#8211; It&#8217;s All Kicking Off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chris Sutton believes England have drawn a &#8216;pretty soft group&#8217; for the European Championships next summer after the draw was held on Saturday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gareth Southgate&#8217;s beaten finalists from Euro 2020 &#8211; held in 2021 &#8211; were given a favourable draw for the summer 2024 tournament to be held in Germany &#8211; namely Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia.<\/p>\n<p>Pundits including Sutton and Alan Shearer believe that it is an excellent opportunity for the Three Lions to get into the knockout phase, and give them a perfect start on their route to a deep run in the competition, as they avoided the potential of an early meeting with Italy or Holland.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sutton told BBC Two: &#8216;I don&#8217;t think Denmark are as strong as they once were, everybody fancied them at the World Cup and they had a poor World Cup. They huffed and puffed through their qualifying campaign and didn&#8217;t have it easy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There are some names we&#8217;re familiar with, Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United, Kasper Schmeichel. They&#8217;ll be well organised but you suspect England will have too much for them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/02\/20\/78508147-0-image-m-7_1701547430459.jpg\" height=\"340\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Chris Sutton believes England have drawn a &#8216;pretty soft group&#8217; Dusan Vlahovic, Luka Jovic and Dusan Tadic, players who we are familiar with, that won&#8217;t be easy but you&#8217;d say it&#8217;s a pretty soft group for England.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Alan Shearer said: &#8216;I don&#8217;t think England can complain with that group, I think it&#8217;s pretty favourable when you look at some of the teams that have been drawn out against each other so I think Gareth will be extremely happy.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>England will hope to go one step further than their penalty shootout defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley, which was held in the summer of 2021.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Southgate&#8217;s side will kick off their Euros campaign in the western German city of\u00a0Gelsenkirchen on Sunday, June 16 against Serbia, who finished second in qualifying Group G behind Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>Four days later, they will face Denmark in Frankfurt, before facing Slovenia in Cologne for the final group stage game on June 25.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Denmark and Slovenia qualified from the same group, ending the game in Ljubljana level in June, and the Danes winning 2-1 in Copenhagen last month.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning champions Italy have a tough group alongside World Cup semi-finalists Croatia, and perennial challengers Spain.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/02\/20\/78367833-12818363-Italy_go_into_next_summer_s_tournament_as_defending_champions_af-a-9_1701547747962.jpg\" height=\"380\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Reigning champions Italy have been drawn into a tough group along with Spain and Croatia\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/i\/pix\/2017\/08\/02\/636x90_facebook_ad_sport.png\" width=\"636\" height=\"90\"><br \/>\nSource: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/football\/article-12818363\/Chris-Sutton-calls-Englands-Euro-2024-group-pretty-soft-avoiding-Netherlands-Italy-claims-Denmark-arent-strong-Alan-Shearer-says-Gareth-Southgate-extremely-happy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Sutton calls England&#8217;s Euro 2024 group &#8216;pretty soft&#8217;
