Mauricio Pochettino “angry and disappointed” after Chelsea lose 4-1 at Newcastle.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino thinks that Todd Boehly and the rest of the club’s ownership group are supporting the process, following a disappointing start to the Argentine’s time at Stamford Bridge. Pochettino has been in the job for a few months and has the Blues languishing in 10th place in the Premier League table.

Over £1billion has been spent on new players since Boehly and co arrived last year, but Pochettino believes that the owners still have faith in the vision moving forward.

“That is the reality,” Pochettino replied in his press conference when asked for the ownership’s view on their season so far. “That is the process. I think they [the owners] are supporting this, of course.”

When Pochettino joined in the summer, the club’s transfer record was broken for the second time in a few months with Moises Caicedo’s £115million move from Brighton – who Chelsea face on Sunday and will hope to bounce back from their 4-1 thumping by Newcastle last time out.

Caicedo and goalkeeper Rob Sanchez were brought in from the Seagulls and have enjoyed mixed starts to their Chelsea careers, but Pochettino has defended the pair and insisted that it is unfair to judge them on such a short time at the club.

“I think it’s a process also,” Pochettino added. “The intention is to analyse and compare a player from one season to another and it’s not fair. I think Robert in the last few months [at Brighton] he didn’t play and arrived late in the transfer window. Moises arrived late when we were already playing games.
