I\u2019d like to see him really stamp his authority on this squad and get a regular starting place,&#8217; Owen said of Gakpo on TNT Sports.<\/p>\n<p>Since arriving at Liverpool in January, Gakpo has been used as a central striker, out wide and as a creative player in midfield.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/30\/23\/78447845-12812131-image-a-36_1701388600465.jpg\" height=\"419\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Cody Gakpo scored twice in Liverpool&#8217;s 4-0 win against LASK Linz on Thursday night<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/30\/23\/78447849-12812131-image-a-35_1701388590371.jpg\" height=\"322\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Gakpo fired home goals in both halves as the Reds cruised to a routine victory<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/01\/00\/78447957-12812131-image-a-37_1701388810454.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Michael Owen wants to see Gakpo &#8216;stamp his authority&#8217; more to become a regular starter<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Owen&#8217;s fellow pundit Joe Cole pointed out that Gakpo&#8217;s versatility is a good asset to have, but the former Liverpool striker believes the 24-year-old must make it his mission to nail down a position in Klopp&#8217;s starting XI.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Versatility is great, but if he\u2019s going to be a top player for Liverpool, I think it needs to be Jurgen Klopp saying \u201cin the team, in this position\u201d,&#8217; Owen added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;At the moment he fits in a little bit. He\u2019s got to do his talking on the pitch with games, like he did tonight.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/01\/00\/78447961-12812131-image-a-38_1701388844779.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Joe Cole has also called for Gakpo to &#8216;take charge of games&#8217; with his pace, strength and skill<\/p>\n<p>Cole also thinks Gakpo can find another level, and has called on the forward to combine his physical strength with his technical ability to dominate matches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I\u2019d like to see him take charge of games. He\u2019s a big boy, we saw in the second half him driving past players. I\u2019d like to see more of that,&#8217; Cole said.<\/p>\n<p>Gakpo won a penalty that Mo Salah converted in between his two goals, and Cole was blown away by the pace he showed to earn the spot-kick, which is another strength that he feels needs to be demonstrated more often.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I\u2019ve not seen that,&#8217; Cole said as he spoke about Gakpo&#8217;s pace. &#8216;How often have we seen Cody Gakpo like that?
