Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs has been hit with a match ban for calling Premier League referee Anthony Taylor \u201cf****** useless\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hobbs aimed the insult at Taylor following Wolves\u2019 2-2 draw with Newcastle in October as the officials left the pitch. The match had seen a controversial decision to award Newcastle a penalty after Hwang Hee-chan was adjudged to have fouled Fabian Schar by VAR.<\/p>\n

The decision earned the Magpies a point and left Wolves furious. After hearing the remark, Taylor said such behaviour was unacceptable and alleged in an FA hearing earlier this month that Hobbs replied: "We look forward to your apology again."<\/p>\n

Hobbs was subsequently charged by the FA with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3.1, issued with a \u00a34,000 fine and a one-match ban. Wolves have been left furious by several referee and VAR decisions on numerous occasions already this season and as recently as this week in Monday\u2019s 3-2 defeat at Fulham.<\/p>\n

VAR sent referee Michael Salisbury to the screen to award a penalty after Wolves\u2019 Joao Gomes brought Harry Wilson down in the box. Willian scored his second spot-kick of the game to seal all three points for Fulham. <\/p>\n

O\u2019Neil, who spoke with Salisbury after the game, highlighted the decisions involving the late penalty, Carlos Vinicius\u2019 alleged headbutt on Max Kilman and why Tim Ream did not receive a second yellow for a foul on Hwang.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had a real grown-up conversation in there with him,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m trying to remain calm. I\u2019m not angry with anybody. I\u2019m not in there abusing people. <\/p>\n
