Erik ten Hag gets huge Man Utd fitness boost as star makes unexpected return to training

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has risked giving Everton the perfect team-talk ahead of their Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon. During the international break the Toffees were docked 10 points for allegedly breaching the league’s profit and sustainability rules, resulting in outrage from Goodison Park club.

Everton were referred to an independent commission in March for alleged breaches relating to the 2021/22 season resulting in a hearing and their decision to deduct points. Ahead of any appeal process Sean Dyche’s side have been reduced to just four league points from 12 games.

The Goodison Park club feel that the unprecedented Premier League points deduction is “wholly unjust” and a statement released by the club said that they would ‘stick together with fans’. A siege mentality is expected at Everton as they look to bridge the gap of two points out of the relegation zone to Luton in 17th.

Everton have looked an improved side under Dyche this season and won three of their last four Premier League matches. The feeling of an unjust decision direct from the Premier League could spur them on to improve that run of form.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag is coming under increasing pressure as United have lost three of their last five games in all competitions. Ahead of their trip to Goodison Park the Red Devils’ boss has brutally said that Everton deserved to be punished for breaching profit and sustainability rules.

Despite admitting to having limited knowledge of the Everton case the Dutchman claimed that clubs “have to match the rules” suggesting that a points deduction is fair. However, his comments risk being the catalyst for a perfect Everton team-talk with the side already reeling from the decision.
