Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta faces a likely touchline ban after labelling the officials an \u2018absolute disgrace\u2019 following his side\u2019s 1-0 defeat at St James\u2019 Park this month.<\/p>\n<p>And Howe, when asked about Mail Sport\u2019s \u2018Stop Abusing Referees\u2019 campaign, said: \u2018If you asked every manager, in the cold of light of day, we don\u2019t want to see the abuse of referees. We want to see a game that has the referee held in respect and treated accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The other side of that is the emotion and the pressure. The situations we\u2019re put in as managers is extreme and sometimes you see reactions, but that is based on emotion.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But I do think it\u2019s something we all need to work together on, to try and improve the image of the game, for everyone who is watching the product. I would love to see that improved globally.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/24\/11\/78194679-0-image-a-46_1700824775005.jpg\" height=\"485\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Eddie Howe thinks harsher penalties are needed for managers who abuse referees simply doing their jobs\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/24\/11\/78194761-0-image-a-47_1700824882105.jpg\" height=\"476\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Newcastle boss said he sees an appetite in the game to create a new &#8216;culture that we need&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/24\/11\/78194807-0-image-a-48_1700825012202.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Mikel Arteta likely faces a touchline ban after branding officials an &#8216;absolute disgrace&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I think restrictions being brought in and punishments being more severe is the only way to go to try and improve that. I do think there is a willing from everyone in the game to do that, I don\u2019t see the opposite. It\u2019s just creating the culture that we need to.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Is it important for managers to keep their composure more in post-match interviews?<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Every manager would probably say yes, but then you have to deal with the emotion and you have to deal with the pressure we are all under, and we are human beings,\u2019 said Howe.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If you interview managers two or three days later, you would never get the outburst you get.
