Chelsea could have the opportunity to bolster their attacking ranks in the January transfer window by signing talented teenager Youssoufa Moukoko on loan. The forward is struggling for minutes with Borussia Dortmund and the Bundesliga outfit are reportedly considering allowing him to leave the club and spend the second half of the season elsewhere.

The Blues continued their spending spree over the summer, taking their total spending under Todd Boehly to over £1billion. However, despite the significant fees being forked out, only one ready-made striker arrived during that time, Nicolas Jackson.

The ex-Villarreal star was signed over the summer with the intention of leading the line for Mauricio Pochettino’s side for many years to come, but he has since failed to hit the ground running in the Premier League. The Senegal international has shown glimpses of promise when called upon but ultimately his six goals in 11 appearances oversell his impact.

As a result, Pochettino is keen for a marquee No 9 to arrive as soon as possible, with several options already being sounded out at Stamford Bridge. But given that most top players are only available during the summer transfer windows, Chelsea may need to find a creative resolution to one of their most pressing issues.

Moukoko could be exactly that for Pochettino, even if he is only able to work with the versatile attacker for the remainder of the campaign. According to TeamTalk, Dortmund are considering letting the 19-year-old leave the club on loan in January as they are unable to provide him with the opportunities that he requires to develop.

Despite breaking onto the scene, aged 16, and becoming the youngest-ever player to feature in the Bundesliga, the Germany international has fallen down the pecking order at the Signal Iduna Park and several clubs have already registered an interest in acquiring his services.
