Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai seemingly took a shot of alcohol in the stands to celebrate Hungary’s qualification for Euro 2024.

The 23-year-old scored twice for his country – including an incredible solo goal – on Sunday afternoon as Hungary beat Montenegro 3-1 to secure their spot at this summer’s tournament in Germany.

The win meant Szoboszlai’s side finished top of qualifying Group G in the European qualification groups, ahead of Serbia in second and Montenegro, Lithuania and Bulgaria, who failed to qualify.

The country’s latest qualification marked another success in what has been an upward trajectory of improvement from Hungary, and they will aim to do better at Euro 2024 after finishing bottom of their group at Euro 2020.

But the celebrations will begin first, and Liverpool’s Szoboszlai led the way in the stands at the Puskas Arena.

Footage showed Szoboszlai raising a small glass while stood in the stands as he appeared to gesture to someone that he was about to drink the bottle’s contents.

He downed the liquid as supporters around him cheered, before he pulled the bottle away from his mouth and pulled a face.

His reaction suggested the drink was strong, but he nonetheless continued to celebrate, jokingly shaking his head after assessing his drink before speaking briefly on a microphone.

Szoboszlai captains his country, a side that boasts a number of talented players, shown when they beat England 4-0 in June 2022.
