{"id":299734,"date":"2023-11-18T17:24:41","date_gmt":"2023-11-18T17:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=299734"},"modified":"2023-11-18T17:24:41","modified_gmt":"2023-11-18T17:24:41","slug":"rashford-should-not-start-for-england-at-euro-2024-says-tim-sherwood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/rashford-should-not-start-for-england-at-euro-2024-says-tim-sherwood\/","title":{"rendered":"Rashford should NOT start for England at Euro 2024, says Tim Sherwood"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Marcus Rashford should NOT start for England at Euro 2024 after struggling against Malta, claims Tim Sherwood, as he takes aim at Man United boss Erik ten Hag for &#8216;not being good enough&#8217; to get the best out of him<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Marcus Rashford has had a difficult start to the season at Manchester United<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sherwood blames Erik ten Hag, and thinks Rashford should not start for England<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Chris Sutton is stunned by Ian Ladyman&#8217;s England Euro XI: It&#8217;s All Kicking Off<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Former Premier League winner Tim Sherwood believes there is &#8216;no chance&#8217; Marcus Rashford should start for England at Euro 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Manchester United winger scored 30 goals for the Red Devils last season, but has failed to back that up so far this term, netting just once.<\/p>\n<p>He started England&#8217;s underwhelming 2-0 win against Malta on Friday, but struggled to make an impact and was taken off in the second half after accidentally colliding with team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold.<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood is concerned by Rashford&#8217;s form and does not expect him to get back to his best this season while working under Erik ten Hag.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked if Rashford warrants a place in Gareth Southgate&#8217;s starting line-up for next summer&#8217;s tournament, Sherwood said on Soccer Saturday:\u00a0&#8216;No, not a chance. He can thank his manager for playing his way out of the England team, unfortunately.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/18\/15\/77965217-12765423-image-a-54_1700322249091.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Marcus Rashford endured a frustrating night against Malta on Friday during England&#8217;s 2-0 win<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/18\/15\/77965223-12765423-image-m-56_1700322295668.jpg\" height=\"393\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Tim Sherwood has blamed Erik ten Hag for Rashford&#8217;s struggles this season at Man United<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/18\/15\/77965467-12765423-image-m-71_1700322929521.jpg\" height=\"428\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sherwood believes Rashford should not be starting for England at Euro 2024<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I think if he was at Man City now, I think he&#8217;s got all the attributes to be a world-class player and make the England team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I think there&#8217;s not going to be a turnaround between now and the end of the season, unfortunately, and I think he can thank Ten Hag for that because he&#8217;s not been good enough.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>While Rashford has endured a tough period at United, with the side losing nine of their 18 matches in 2023-24, Manchester City duo Jack Grealish and Phil Foden have been starring for the league leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood believes both players should be two of the first names on Southgate&#8217;s teamsheet, claiming it would be &#8216;criminal&#8217; to leave either man out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;For me, Jack Grealish has to be there,; Sherwood continued. &#8216;I worked with Jack, I know what he&#8217;s like, but for Phil Foden not to be in this starting line-up is criminal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Both of these players have to be in the team.
