Callum Wilson is expected to be sidelined until the end of December at Newcastle’s injury crisis mounts ahead of a busy run of fixtures.<\/p>\n
Wilson was substituted at half-time of Newcastle’s 2-0 loss to\u00a0Borussia Dortmund\u00a0in the Champions League last week.<\/p>\n
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe revealed Wilson had been suffering from a ‘tight hamstring’.<\/p>\n
The injury ruled Wilson out of featuring in Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat by\u00a0Bournemouth on Sunday, with the striker also forced to withdraw from the England squad.<\/p>\n
Howe had claimed Wilson could miss a ‘number of weeks’, with the forward having since had a scan to assess the issue.<\/p>\n

According to the Telegraph, Wilson is expected to miss between four to six weeks with a hamstring injury and will likely return at the end of December.<\/p>\n
‘Unfortunately, a recent setback has meant I had to withdraw from the squad that I’d worked so hard to be a part of,’ Wilson said when pulling out of the England squad.<\/p>\n
‘Strong walls shake but never collapse, so for sure I’ll be back soon. Good luck to the lads in the upcoming fixtures.’<\/p>\n
The loss of Wilson, who has scored seven goals this season, will be a significant blow to Newcastle ahead of their crunch Champions League group stage matches against PSG and AC Milan.<\/p>\n
Howe’s injury hit side also face Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in the Premier League over the next month.<\/p>\n
As it stands, the Magpies head coach is without 10 first-team players due to injury issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sandro Tonali is also suspended, while on-loan defender Lewis Hall will be unable to face his parent club Chelsea in their next fixture, meaning Howe could be without 12 first-team stars.<\/p>\n
Newcastle had been forced to play with Anthony Gordon in a makeshift striker role against Bournemouth, with Alexander Isak having been absent due to a groin injury.<\/p>\n
