The 26-year-old midfielder is facing a considerable layoff after sustaining an ankle injury during Spurs&#8217; 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maddison limped off the field at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before half-time as fans feared the worst. Head coach Ange Postecoglou went to confirm that the injury was worse than first anticipated and that Maddison would be out of action into the New Year.<\/p>\n<p>The Englishman was among a long list of players who weren&#8217;t available for Spurs&#8217; trip to Molineux on Saturday as they fell to a second consecutive defeat. Postecoglou also had to do without Micky van de Ven and Richarlison through injury while Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero couldn&#8217;t play due to suspensions.<\/p>\n<p>It looked as though it would be another routine victory for Tottenham early on as Brennan Johnson put the visitors ahead after just three minutes. After the match, the former Leicester player sent a message to Spurs fans on Instagram confirming he will need &#8220;a period of time&#8221; on the sidelines. &#8220;The rollercoaster that is football, unfortunately,&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Will need a period of time away from the pitch to get this one right.
