Celtic fans were reportedly attacked by hooligans ahead of their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid – before supporters continued to show their support for Palestine.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Scottish side were beaten 6-0 by the Spanish outfit, with Palestine flags seen in the away end at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sections of the Scottish club’s fanbase have maintained their backing of Palestinians amid conflict with Israel and Hamas.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In Celtic’s home game against Atletico Madrid, a sea of Palestine flags were spotted, despite the club insisting political messages and banners were not welcome. Recent banners have included ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘Victory to the resistance’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And according to the Glasgow Times, two men have been hospitalised after being hit by bottles in the build up to the game.<\/p>\n

It said a 61-year-old fan called Mark O’Donnell alleged he was attacked while watching earlier fixtures at a bar when 20 rival supporters entered.\u00a0<\/p>\n
O’Donnell claimed he was asked by one attacker ‘Are you Celtic’ before being hit by a barrage of punches.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The same supporter alleged that another man was also sent to hospital after being struck in the face with a bottle and had ‘numerous’ stitches.<\/p>\n
The Champions League game saw more than 3,000 Celtic fans make the trip to the Spanish capital after the fixture had been labelled as ‘high risk’ by Spanish authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fans continued to hold up Palestine flags in this game, which saw them thumped by the LaLiga team.<\/p>\n
Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann both scored braces, with Samuel Lino and Saul Niguez also getting on the scoresheet in a difficult night for boss Brendan Rodgers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Daizen Maeda was also sent off to cap off a bad night for the Scottish side.\u00a0<\/p>\n
