He has built a strong foundation for the new owners at Newcastle,\u2019 said Neville.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He\u2019s competent, highly qualified and knows what he\u2019s doing. He will work with his coach, recruitment team and other departments coherently and calmly.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/06\/12\/77457313-12715669-image-a-42_1699275383297.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Dan Ashworth (left) insists he and Eddie Howe (right) are committed to the Newcastle project<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/06\/12\/77457389-12715669-image-a-43_1699275480636.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Gary Neville lamented Manchester United for not having a sporting director like Ashworth<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>But Ashworth, while thanking Neville for his words following Newcastle\u2019s 3-0 win over Man United last week, has played down talk of him being lured to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018First of all, I literally saw Gary when walking into the directors&#8217; box and he was going down the tunnel. I shouted \u201chello\u201d and that was it,\u2019 said Ashworth. \u2018I didn&#8217;t have a conversation with Gary. I know him and Phil (Neville) from their England days. He&#8217;s written some very kind things and thank you Gary.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But it\u2019s the same situation as Eddie, I think. I&#8217;m really happy, it&#8217;s a brilliant city, club and project. I&#8217;m thoroughly engaged in throwing myself into all of those things and really enjoying the challenge.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Does Ashworth have a release clause in his contract?<\/p>\n<p>\u2018No! Not that I&#8217;m aware of anyway,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Of Howe and England, Ashworth added: \u2018It&#8217;s being speculated what may and may not happen and what jobs may and may not be available. I&#8217;m sure if Gareth wins the Euros in the summer it won&#8217;t be available!<\/p>\n<p>\u2018All I can say is, Eddie has got a brilliant relationship across the club with staff, board and supporters &#8211;
