{"id":298344,"date":"2023-11-05T19:24:40","date_gmt":"2023-11-05T19:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=298344"},"modified":"2023-11-05T19:24:40","modified_gmt":"2023-11-05T19:24:40","slug":"jamie-carragher-condemns-luton-fans-singing-always-the-victims-chant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/jamie-carragher-condemns-luton-fans-singing-always-the-victims-chant\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamie Carragher condemns Luton fans singing &apos;always the victims&apos; chant"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Jamie Carragher condemns Luton Town fans singing &#8216;always the victims&#8217; chant at Liverpool during Premier League clash &#8211; as Reds icon insists supporters &#8216;have to be better than that&#8217;<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Luton fans were heard singing a tragedy chant directed at Liverpool fans<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Jamie Carragher has condemned the chants during the game&#8217;s halftime break\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00a0Big debates on Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal on It&#8217;s All Kicking Off podcast<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A furious Jamie Carragher has condemned Luton Town fans after they were heard singing a tragedy chant directed at Liverpool during their Premier League game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool drew 1-1 with Luton at Kenilworth road on Sunday afternoon but the home fans were heard chanting the &#8216;always the victims&#8217; chant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The chant is often considered to be linked with the Hillsborough disaster of 1989, and is widely condemned in the football world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An independent panel and fresh inquests exonerated Liverpool fans of any blame for the disaster that saw 97 people killed in a stadium crush during an FA Cup game against Sheffield United.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Former Reds defender Carragher has slammed Luton fans for singing the chant and has insisted supporters &#8216;have to be better than that&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/05\/18\/77429403-12713055-image-a-14_1699208862944.jpg\" height=\"343\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher condemned chanting at halftime on Sky Sports<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/05\/18\/77429487-12713055-image-a-16_1699208872494.jpg\" height=\"662\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Luton fans could be heard chanting\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Carragher remarked on Sky Sports at halftime: &#8216; I just want to mention something, the start of the season was involved in something with supporters coming together about tragedy chanting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I just heard in a couple times during this game, you&#8217;ve got to have rivalry but we are better than that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Two or three times in game, a few minutes ago as well.
