Adam Johnson had tragically purchased a ring and was planning to propose to his girlfriend before his horrific death last week while playing for the English ice hockey side Nottingham Panthers.<\/p>\n
Johnson, 29, passed away on Saturday when his neck was slashed by a skate during a collision with opponent Matt Petgrave. The 29-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Ryan Wolfe, Johnson's girlfriend, was in attendance at the Utilita Arena, and she had rushed down to the ice to be by his side and pray. And Johnson's aunt Kari has now revealed he was planning to propose to Ryan before the tragedy.<\/p>\n

Kari added: "At one point, they had lost him in the ambulance and they brought him back. <\/p>\n "He didn\u2019t make it through surgery once they got him to the hospital. They just couldn\u2019t get the bleeding to stop. He lost way too much blood. Just seeing it was traumatic."<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ryan ID'd the body once he was pronounced dead at Sheffield General Infirmary. An inquest into his death started on Friday, and the court heard that a heartbroken Ryan identified his body.<\/p>\n Senior Coroner Tanyka Rawden said: "He was identified by his fiancee, miss Ryan Wolfe. I am not in a position to fix the inquest at this time as my investigation into the death of this gentleman is not complete.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n "I would like to take this opportunity to offer his family, friends and all those who knew him my most sincere condolences at this difficult time." Following his death, Nottingham Panthers said: "Adam, our number 47, was not only an outstanding ice hockey player, but also a great team-mate and an incredible person with his whole life ahead of him.<\/p>\n "The club will dearly miss him and will never ever forget him."<\/p>\n
