{"id":298053,"date":"2023-11-03T12:26:41","date_gmt":"2023-11-03T12:26:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=298053"},"modified":"2023-11-03T12:26:41","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T12:26:41","slug":"uefa-will-co-organise-the-ballon-dor-awards-from-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/uefa-will-co-organise-the-ballon-dor-awards-from-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"UEFA will co-organise the Ballon d&apos;Or awards from 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>UEFA will co-organise the Ballon d&#8217;Or awards from 2024 in a bid to &#8216;enhance the global reach&#8217; of the honours &#8211; and a new trophy will honour a Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Coach of the Year<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The governing body has reached agreement with organisers Group Amaury\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>UEFA&#8217;s awards will be folded into the ceremony, save for the President&#8217;s Award\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Big debates on Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal on It&#8217;s All Kicking Off podcast\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The prestigious Ballon d&#8217;Or awards will be co-organised by UEFA from next year.<\/p>\n<p>European football&#8217;s governing body has reached an agreement with Group Amaury, the owner of media companies France Football and L&#8217;Equipe, to &#8216;enhance the stature and global reach of the awards&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Argentinian star Lionel Messi won his eighth Ballon d&#8217;Or title earlier this week after steering his country to World Cup glory last year, with Spanish World Cup star Aitana Bonmati winning the women&#8217;s prize.<\/p>\n<p>The merging of the awards means an end to the UEFA awards handed out in August each year, with the exception of the President&#8217;s Award which will still be presented alongside the draws for the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.<\/p>\n<p>There will also still be accolades for the best player in each of UEFA&#8217;s club competitions, which are determined by its technical study group and announced within days of each competition&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/03\/11\/77359619-12706579-image-a-51_1699009223412.jpg\" height=\"459\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>UEFA will co-organise the Ballon d&#8217;Or awards from 2024 after striking a deal with current head<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/03\/11\/77359629-12706579-image-a-52_1699009228487.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin will oversee the merger of the two organisation&#8217;s awards<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new partnership, UEFA said all existing Ballon d&#8217;Or awards will remain in place with the addition of men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s coach of the year prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Groupe Amaury retains control of the Ballon d&#8217;Or brand under the agreement and of the voting system, which will be unchanged. UEFA will be responsible for marketing the global commercial rights to the event and for organising the annual awards gala.<\/p>\n<p>UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: &#8216;For almost 70 years, the Ballon d&#8217;Or has stood as the most prestigious individual accolade in the world of football and is a testament to the extraordinary skill, dedication and impact of the game&#8217;s legends and their enduring mark on the sport&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;UEFA club and national team competitions, such as the UEFA Champions League and UEFA EURO, are regarded as the highest global stages for elite players, often playing a critical role in players&#8217;
