Man United fans have praised Mason Mount for being the only player to stay after the final whistle and clap the supporters following another shocking defeat at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
United were sent crashing out of the Carabao Cup\u00a0last night\u00a0after falling to a 3-0 home defeat to Newcastle, prompting a chorus of boos.<\/p>\n
Goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock sealed victory for the Magpies three nights after the Red Devils suffered another humbling 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester City on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But despite the poor result, England international Mount was filmed clapping the supporters by the few people left after the full-time whistle.<\/p>\n
Replying to the video of the 24-year-old, one fan said: ‘He has my respect.’<\/p>\n

The former Chelsea player has endured a tough start to life for United after playing nine games<\/p>\n

Another also added: ‘This shows so much character. Loved to see this from a much vilified Mason Mount. More power to him.’<\/p>\n
However, while many fans appreciated the \u00a360million summer signing from Chelsea taking the time to appreciate supporters, some were less sympathetic.<\/p>\n
One fan wrote: ‘I\u2019d do a few laps of the stadium if I were on the money he was on.’<\/p>\n
Another said: ‘He\u2019s not here to clap he\u2019s here to play football\u2026 he should be up his game and be a serious player.’<\/p>\n
A third added: ‘Take it from Chelsea fans. This is all he is good at,’ while a fourth said: ‘Ahh. The classic Mount claps after dropping stinker after stinkers.’<\/p>\n
Last month, Chelsea legend John Terry suggested there was an ‘untold side’ to Mount’s acrimonious Chelsea exit and asked fans ‘not to be too harsh’ when he returns to Stamford Bridge with Man United.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old currently has one assist in nine games for the Red Devils.<\/p>\n
