Peter Schmeichel was left scrambling for cover as the Manchester United sprinklers wreaked havoc before their 3-0 derby defeat.<\/p>\n
It was a bad day for everyone connected with the Red Devils on Sunday (October 29) as their neighbours Man City claimed a comfortable victory at Old Trafford thanks to a penalty and header from Erling Haaland and a tap-in by Phil Foden.<\/p>\n
But especially so for club ambassador Schmeichel, who was given a pre-match soaking on the sidelines while working as a pundit for Malaysian TV channel Stadium Astro. He'd been discussing the late great Sir Bobby Charlton at the time.<\/p>\n

"He took part in the whole rebuild of Manchester United, with Jimmy Murphy and of course Sir Matt [Busby] who survived as well, and then only eight years later he won the World Cup, he was the best player in the world at the time," said Schmeichel.<\/p>\n
"They win the championship here in England the next year – and now we're getting wet," he then added, with the sprinklers having rotated around to their position as he was talking. Presenter Michelle Lee echoed: "Ooo we are getting rained on a little bit."<\/p>\n

Her and Schmeichel appeared to escape just in the nick of time, but their colleague Danny Mills wasn't so fortunate – getting covered despite fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n
The final member of the panel, Tom Cleverley, pulled off a well-timed duck to avoid most of the showering and managed to stay in position like a true professional.<\/p>\n
Schmeichel later slammed the VAR-assisted decision to award City a first-half spot kick as a "joke", before later insisting Erik ten Hag "definitely has a future" at the club despite their struggles so far this season.<\/p>\n
