{"id":297492,"date":"2023-10-29T23:57:33","date_gmt":"2023-10-29T23:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=297492"},"modified":"2023-10-29T23:57:33","modified_gmt":"2023-10-29T23:57:33","slug":"erling-haaland-heard-man-united-fans-chanting-keano-before-penalty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/erling-haaland-heard-man-united-fans-chanting-keano-before-penalty\/","title":{"rendered":"Erling Haaland heard Man United fans chanting &apos;Keano&apos; before penalty"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Erling Haaland admits he heard Man United supporters chanting &#8216;Keano&#8217; at him before his penalty in the Manchester derby as the City striker scored twice at Old Trafford<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Man City goalscorer celebrated emphatically after his first goal on Sunday<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Erling Haaland explained he heard United supporters chanting &#8216;Keano&#8217; at him<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Follow Mail Sport&#8217;s new Man United WhatsApp channel for all the breaking news<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Erling Haaland admitted his delight at opening the scoring in the Manchester derby after hearing Man United supporters chant &#8216;Keano&#8217; at him while preparing to take his penalty in the first half.<\/p>\n<p>City dominated proceedings at Old Trafford in Sunday&#8217;s Manchester derby with Haaland scoring twice either side of half time before Phil Foden wrapped up victory with a third goal.<\/p>\n<p>United supporters chanting &#8216;Keano&#8217; were referencing the former Red Devils captain&#8217;s horror tackle on Haaland&#8217;s dad, Alf-Inge when he was playing for City.<\/p>\n<p>Keane enacted revenge on Haaland Snr in 2001, four-years after the Norwegian was involved in a challenge with the Irishman that saw the United star miss the majority of the 1997\/98 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The outrageous tackle on Haaland eventually led to the end of his professional career and United supporters decided to try and use the incident as a method of distraction in the weekend&#8217;s Manchester derby. It didn&#8217;t work.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/29\/18\/77149137-0-image-a-26_1698604265360.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Erling Haaland celebrates after scoring Man City&#8217;s first goal in Sunday&#8217;s Manchester derby<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/29\/18\/77149139-0-image-a-27_1698604268506.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Haaland admitted he heard United supporters chanting &#8216;Keano&#8217; at him when he stepped up to take his penalty<\/p>\n<p>23-year-old Haaland revealed after the match that he had heard the calls and enjoyed silencing rival fans with his opening goal of the game.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I heard a lot of people shouting about &#8216;Keano&#8217; I don&#8217;t know why,&#8217; the City striker told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n<p>He added a second goal with a brilliant header at the back-post to beat United goalkeeper Andre Onana as City began to exert control on proceedings at the home of their rivals.<\/p>\n<p>Haaland&#8217;s goalscoring feat in the derby clash put him in further control of the Premier League&#8217;s goalscoring charts with two goals against United moving him onto 11 strikes for the season so far.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/29\/18\/77149141-0-image-a-28_1698604274436.jpg\" height=\"479\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former United captain Roy Keane and Haaland&#8217;s dad, Alf-Inge, previously came together during their playing days<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/29\/18\/77149151-0-image-a-29_1698604300201.jpg\" height=\"461\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Keane famously stood over Haaland after a horror tackle on the Norwegian in 2001<\/p>\n<p>Analysing his follow-up strike against United, Haaland said:\u00a0&#8216;The second goal was a fantastic leap.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The first header was an incredible save just before half time. He [Onana] did a fantastic save in the second half where I chipped it and he saved with his head.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We won &#8211; I don&#8217;t care. It was Amazing, fantastic win and the game was incredible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The whole team.
