&#8211; but the player&#8217;s father is still missing<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The incicident took place in Diaz&#8217;s hometown of Barrancas in La Guajira<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Police and military forces are working together to spearhead the investigation<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The player&#8217;s father is still thought to be being held by &#8216;armed men&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The parents of Liverpool star Luis Diaz\u00a0have been kidnapped in their homeland of Colombia, and whilst his mother has been rescued, his father is still missing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As per local reports, the player&#8217;s mother and father were stopped in their vehicles by the assailants in the town of Barrancas, in\u00a0La Guajira, the town were Diaz grew up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The suspected kidnappers then commandeered the van that Diaz&#8217;s parents were travelling in, and fled the scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Semana, national Gaula police director Colonel Geovanni Cristancho is travelling to the northern region to spearhead the search and rescue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Contradictory reports &#8211; including the possibility that Diaz&#8217;s parents could have been forced into a van whilst watching a football match &#8211; could further complicate investigations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/29\/00\/77128405-0-image-m-93_1698535797730.jpg\" height=\"430\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The parents of Luis Diaz are believed to have been kidnapped in his Colombian hometown of Barrancas in La Guajira<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/29\/00\/77128921-12684377-image-a-107_1698537175804.jpg\" height=\"785\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The star&#8217;s mother (pictured in 2019) has been rescued, but his father is believed to be stil being held captive<\/p>\n<p>Both military and police services are working together in the region to help identify the whereabouts of the victims.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Colombia&#8217;s Attorney General&#8217;s Office were quick to respond with a statement shared to X (formerly Twitter).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From the moment in which the Fiscal\u00eda General of the Nation learned of the kidnapping of the parents of the Colombian player Luis D\u00edaz, in the Barrancas sector, in La Guajira, a specialized team of prosecutors, officials of the Technical Investigation Corps, CTI, and investigators from the Gaula Police and Military are in urgent action in order to find the location of these people, clarify the facts and find those responsible.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>As per Blu Radio Colombia &#8211;
