{"id":297201,"date":"2023-10-26T01:28:11","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T01:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=297201"},"modified":"2023-10-26T01:28:11","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T01:28:11","slug":"eddie-howe-confirms-double-injury-blow-for-newcastle-against-dortmund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/eddie-howe-confirms-double-injury-blow-for-newcastle-against-dortmund\/","title":{"rendered":"Eddie Howe confirms double injury blow for Newcastle against Dortmund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Newcastle rocked by DOUBLE injury blow as Eddie Howe confirms Jacob Murphy dislocated his shoulder and Alexander Isak suffered a groin issue in Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alexander Isak was forced off with a groin injury against Borussia Dortmund<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Substitute Jacob Murphy lasted just five minutes before he too was forced off\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Follow Mail Sport&#8217;s new Champions League WhatsApp channel for all the breaking news\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Newcastle were hit with a double injury blow during their Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund.<\/p>\n<p>It was a painful night for Eddie Howe&#8217;s side at St James&#8217; Park, as Felix Nmecha scored the only goal of the game in a huge win for the Bundesliga side.<\/p>\n<p>That wasn&#8217;t the only bad news of the night for the Magpies as both Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy were forced off with injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Isak started the game but hobbled off after 15 minutes, and substitute Jacob Murphy was forced off just five minutes after he came on as a second-half replacement for Joelinton.<\/p>\n<p>Howe has confirmed that Murphy has suffered a dislocated shoulder while Isak has had a &#8216;reoccurring&#8217; of a groin injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/25\/20\/76999827-12672545-image-a-14_1698262778319.jpg\" height=\"476\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Newcastle were dealt a major blow in their Champions League defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night after Alexander Isak was forced off with injury<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/00\/77008141-0-image-a-7_1698275903541.jpg\" height=\"695\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jacob Murphy came on as a second-half substitute &#8211; but lasted just five minutes as he left the pitch with a serious looking injury with his shirt being used as a makeshift sling<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/00\/77008143-0-image-a-8_1698275956430.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Eddie Howe has confirmed that Murphy has suffered a dislocated shoulder while Isak suffered a &#8216;reoccurring&#8217; of a previous groin injury in a massive double blow for the Magpies<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about Isak after the game, he said: &#8216;<span>That was a blow for us, and Jacob coming off as well which looks like a serious injury.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;We have a small squad as it is but with so many games to come that&#8217;s the big disappointment of the night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;(Isak) looks a reoccurring of the groin injury and Jacob Murphy it looks more serious, a dislocation of his shoulder which isn&#8217;t a good thing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Swedish international Isak went down after 15 minutes with the injury.
