England are reportedly set to part ways with defensive coach Kevin Sinfield at the end of the Rugby World Cup. The former Rugby League international joined Steve Borthwick’s backroom staff ahead of this year’s Six Nations but is now expected to part company less than 12 months later.

According to the Telegraph, Sinfield will move on as part of a “mutual agreement” with Springboks defensive coach Felix Jones set to take his place. Sinfield had won the Gallagher Premiership with the Leicester Tigers alongside Borthwick in 2021/2022 but has failed to make an impact since switching over to international rugby.

Jones is expected to be a better fit for England due to his attention to detail and extensive knowledge of the Red Roses’ squad having helped mastermind the downfall of Eddie Jones’ team during the 2019 Rugby World Cup final and this year’s semi-final.

Sinfield’s last game in his role will be on Friday when England take on Argentina in the third-place play-off at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.
