Postecoglou has now taken more points from his first nine Premier League matches than any manager in history <\/p>\n

“My role in that was to give feedback to the players. That\u2019s what they want. They want to get better, they want to improve, I\u2019ve got some stuff there to show them.”<\/p>\n

Tottenham\u2019s unusual Monday-Friday double header this week means they could stretch their lead at the top of the table to five points should they defeat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park before the weekend.<\/p>\n

And although Spurs are earning plaudits for their attacking football under Postecoglou, the Tottenham manager believes his team still has a \u201clong way to go\u201d.<\/p>\n

“I think I\u2019ve sat here every week and said that,\u201d Postecoglou said. \u201cThat doesn\u2019t change. We are nine games in and we\u2019re at the beginning of building something.<\/p>\n

“It would be so much easier for me to sit here and say, \u2018Yeah, we\u2019re a great team\u2019. What I\u2019m saying is we have to improve and that puts the responsibility on me to make sure we do it. We can be better, absolutely we can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his disapproval at Tottenham\u2019s second-half display, Postecoglou was full of praise for this team\u2019s \u201coutstanding\u201d pressing as well as the performance of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjreg, who made his first start of the Premier League campaign in place of the suspended Yves Bissouma.<\/p>\n
