There were ructions in the Chelsea ranks as well as Arsenal’s following the award of the Blues’ early penalty.

After a bright start to the game from the home side, the ball hit the arm of William Saliba following a cross from the right. Referee Chris Kavanagh eventually stopped the game after being advised to go and look at the pitchside monitor by VAR.

He decided to give the penalty, prompting arguments from Arsenal players. However, there was also a debate raging among Chelsea players as Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling bickered over who was taking the spot-kick.
