{"id":296609,"date":"2023-10-21T11:24:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-21T11:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=296609"},"modified":"2023-10-21T11:24:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-21T11:24:31","slug":"mayweather-could-fight-mikey-garcia-in-an-exhibition-in-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/boxing\/mayweather-could-fight-mikey-garcia-in-an-exhibition-in-december\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayweather &apos;could fight Mikey Garcia in an exhibition&apos; in December"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Floyd Mayweather &#8216;could fight former four-division world champion Mikey Garcia in an exhibition&#8217; in December<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Floyd Mayweather could continue his exhibition\u00a0journey against Mikey Garcia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Garcia has not fought since October 2021 and retired from boxing a year ago\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span>The bout could happen on the same night as\u00a0Devin Haney vs Regis Prograis<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr could fight former four-division world champion Mikey Garcia in an exhibition in December, according to reports\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The five-division world champion retired from professional boxing in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record after beating Conor McGregor, and has since fought a series of exhibition fights against the likes of Logan Paul and Deji Olatunji.<\/p>\n<p>His latest exhibition fight in June against John Gotti III ended in a massive brawl after the latter continued to throw punches after the referee had called it off.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As reported by Boxing News 24, Mayweather could continue his exhibition journey against Garcia on December 9.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The fight is likely to be broadcasted by DAZN on PPV and that could cause issues as they also have the rights to screen the world super-lightweight title bout between Devin Haney and Regis Prograis on the same night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/21\/10\/76832473-0-image-a-1_1697880815866.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Floyd Mayweather could continue his exhibition journey against Mikey Garcia in December\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/21\/11\/76833207-12656297-image-a-8_1697883810322.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Garcia has not fought since October 2021 and announced his retirement from boxing last year<\/p>\n<p>Garcia has not stepped into the ring since a majority decision defeat by Sandor Martin in October 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old, who holds an impressive 40-2 record, stepped away from the sport last summer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;My brother Mikey had a great boxing career,&#8217; his older brother and trainer, Robert Garcia, told ESPN last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Becoming a five-time champion of the world in four divisions is something very few have done. I am very proud of my brother for everything he accomplished in boxing.
