Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly were among the England stars to take to the red carpet as the\u00a0Lionesses were honoured at the\u00a0Glamour Women of the Year Awards.<\/p>\n
The annual\u00a0annual event celebrates some of the biggest names in biggest names in music, television, film, sport and media.<\/p>\n
Russo and\u00a0Kelly were among those in attendance at the awards, which were held at\u00a0London’s One Marylebone on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
Manchester City forward Kelly was pictured on the red carpet in a\u00a0three-piece dress under an open jacket.<\/p>\n
England team-mate and new Arsenal star Russo instead opted for a tailored black suit and bandeau top.<\/p>\n

England and Arsenal striker\u00a0Alessia Russo also attended the awards ceremony which was held at\u00a0One Marylebone in London on Tuesday<\/p>\n

Kelly, Bethany England, Jess Carter and Russo received the Sport Icons Award on behalf of the England team at the event in honour of their run to the Women’s World Cup final<\/p>\n

Russo and Kelly were joined by England team-mates Bethany England and Jess Carter for the ceremony.<\/p>\n
The quartet accepted the Sports Icons Award on behalf of the England team at the ceremony, with Glamour magazine honouring the squad for their run to the Women’s World Cup final.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Lionesses, the reigning European champions, reached the final for the first time in their history.<\/p>\n
England’s run included a memorable 3-1 win over tournament co-hosts Australia in the semi-final.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sarina Wiegman’s England team ultimately suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Spain in the final in Australia in August.<\/p>\n
Geri Halliwell Horner, who presented the award, said the ‘extraordinary and historic’ England team were ‘changing the face of an entire sport’.<\/p>\n
The team were praised for helping to attract\u00a0record-breaking crowds to the the women’s game, while the final itself was watched by 12 million people on the BBC.<\/p>\n

Russo scored in England’s memorable 3-1 win over Australia to secure a place in the final<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
England ultimately fell short with Spain winning 1-0 in the final in Sydney back in August<\/p>\n
‘Us girls probably don’t realise the impact we have on many young girls’ lives,’ said Kelly when accepting the award.<\/p>\n
‘But this award is not just for women’s football, it’s for every woman involved in sport; those who have paved the way that came before us, and left the shirt in a better place for us, and allowed us the platform to achieve great things \u2013 this award is for them.’<\/p>\n
Alessia Russo added: ‘To do that we need to keep raising performance levels and gain the recognition we deserve.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘We have to dig deep and stick together as a team, like many realms of life. So let’s keep working hard and keep celebrating women.’<\/p>\n
The award also recognised the team’s role in pressuring the Government to offer girls equal access to football and school sport.<\/p>\n
England’s\u00a0Euros-winning squad\u00a0wrote to the Government\u00a0the day after the Wembley final in 2021, urging them to build on the legacy created by their victory.<\/p>\n
The Government pledged in March to make a multi-million-pound investment in school sport and afterschool activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
