Netherlands skipper Virgil van Dijk took issue with the state of the pitch in their 1-0 win against Greece in EURO 2024 qualifying.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old was his country’s saviour with a last minute penalty which secured a crucial win and lifted them above Greece in the Group B standings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite the triumph, Van Dijk voiced his displeasure with the conditions at the\u00a0Agia Sophia Stadium in Athens.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Have you seen the pitch? Terrible,’ he said in his post-match interview. ‘It’s unbelievable that this is still allowed at this level.’<\/p>\n
The Liverpool captain’s heorics came on a nervy night for Ronald Koeman’ side after former Manchester United forward Wout Weghorst missed a spot kick in the first-half.<\/p>\n
