Oisin Murphy was bizarrely tickled on the bum by a rival jockey after his latest big victory.

The Irishman, a three-time British Champion Jockey in 2019, 2020 and 2021, jetted across the pond for the return of 1000 Guineas heroine Mawj on Saturday (October 14) night. The filly had been absent for five months, not being seen since winning the Newmarket Classic in May.

But she didn't miss a beat on her comeback, claiming a comfortable win in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes over 1m1f at Keeneland. Murphy put in a typically impressive showing and left the competitors for dust.

Puerto Rican John Velazquez, who finished third on the 25/1 Mission Of Joy, came up behind and rubbed two fingers on the rear end of his competitor.

Murphy, understandably so, snapped around in shock to see who it was before the camera cut away. A clip of the moment was uploaded to social media by one X, formerly Twitter, user, who captioned it: "Johnny, what ya doing?"

It remains to be see if Velazquez was just having a bit of fun or whether he was trying to get Murphy's attention for another reason. The victor later hailed his "superstar" ride.

"We did quite quick sections in the first half of the race, but she is a superstar filly," Murphy told Bloodhorse. "She found plenty. She's got a great heart and mind."

Owners Godolphin labelled the win as an "amazing achievement", while trainer Saeed bin Suroor added: "To come to America, to Keeneland, and to win is a great result for everybody."
