Chelsea outcast Trevoh Chalobah is edging towards a January exit from Stamford Bridge, having failed to play a single competitive minute up to this point in the season. The Blues could also bid farewell to two other players who are struggling to make an impact under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Chalobah was heavily linked with Bayern Munich during the summer, and reports indicate that the Bundesliga giants are still red-hot on the defender. A move to the Allianz Arena would see him join up with Thomas Tuchel, who won the Champions League during his brief tenure at Stamford Bridge.

With Chalobah deemed ‘very likely’ to be on his way, Pochettino’s objective of trimming the dead weight in his squad will be creeping towards completion. The sale of two other players could effectively see the job through.

The first is Malang Sarr. Pochettino seemed to have no idea who the 24-year-old was when asked about his future back in August.

Don’t miss… Man Utd could finally offload Donny van de Beek as manager name-drops Dutchman

Having been left out of the Blues’ Premier League squad altogether, it seems inevitable that the former OGC Nice defender will move on to pastures new. Sarr has made only eight league appearances for Chelsea since completing a free transfer from Ligue 1 in 2020.

Another player facing an uncertain future is Marc Cucurella. Unlike the other two, the Spaniard has at least banked first-team minutes this season, playing four full matches in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. More info

Read more… Cucurella has acquitted himself relatively well, too, easing some of the pressure from fans after his turbulent debut season with the club. But the make-up of Pochettino’s squad suggests that Chelsea would surely listen to the right-sized offer if it arrived in January.

The Blues were on the verge of sanctioning a loan move to Manchester United in the summer, and even if Cucurella is showing improvement in west London, the temptation to shift his reported £175,000-a-week package from the wage bill may be too tempting to pass up.

Particularly with youngster Levi Colwill excelling at left-back, supported by Ian Maatsen in reserve. Ben Chilwell has been playing further forwards this season, but the England international is also at home on the left side of a back-four.

Exactly how much Chelsea could bank by offloading Chalobah, Sarr and Cucurella remains to be seen, but Transfermarkt places the trio’s combined market value at a tidy £45million.
