{"id":295808,"date":"2023-10-10T18:36:43","date_gmt":"2023-10-10T18:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/?p=295808"},"modified":"2023-10-10T18:36:43","modified_gmt":"2023-10-10T18:36:43","slug":"koeman-admits-he-holds-a-grudge-against-liverpools-gravenberch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstons.com\/soccer\/koeman-admits-he-holds-a-grudge-against-liverpools-gravenberch\/","title":{"rendered":"Koeman admits he holds a grudge against Liverpool&apos;s Gravenberch"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Ronald Koeman reveals he holds a grudge against Ryan Gravenberch after he snubbed a Netherlands Under-21 call-up last month, as he admits the decision played a part in the Liverpool star&#8217;s latest omission from the senior side<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ryan Gravenberch turned down an international call-up last month\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ronald Koeman has revealed he is still annoyed by Gravenberch&#8217;s decision\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast &#8216;It&#8217;s All Kicking Off!&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman has admitted he is still bitter about Ryan Gravenberch rejecting a national team call-up last month.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old midfielder signed for Liverpool at the end of the summer transfer window, and opted to reject joining up with the Netherlands Under-21 squad in September in order to focus on settling in at Anfield.<\/p>\n<p>Gravenberch&#8217;s decision did not go down well with Koeman at the time, and his opinion on the situation hasn&#8217;t changed in the subsequent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Gravenberch has not been called up for international duty this week, and Koeman has explained that his anger at last month&#8217;s snub influenced his decision to omit the rising star, while he also referenced his lack of playing time since arriving on Merseyside.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We do have a certain opinion about cancelling for the Dutch Juniors or the Dutch national team,&#8217; Koeman said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/10\/18\/76390313-12615719-image-a-13_1696957624723.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ryan Gravenberch turned down a call up from Netherlands Under-21s last month<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/10\/18\/76390315-12615719-image-a-14_1696957647018.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ronald Koeman has admitted he is still bitter about Gravenberch&#8217;s decision<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;But I don&#8217;t think he has played much yet. Last Thursday there was a competition.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Despite being out of the picture for now, Koeman has offered Gravenberch hope that he can work his way back into the squad if he starts to impress at Liverpool.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I still think he is a great talent.
